2017 Rules To A Break Up

Rules To A Break Up

I know a few people going through break ups, unhappy relationships or just simply getting played and making a fool of themselves on top of it so I decided to come up with this list to save some embarrassment. I am no relationship expert and have definitely acted a fool a time or two, but my word is good.

1. Don’t Lose Your Self Worth/Respect

Ok, so things didn’t work out, that doesn’t make you a bad person/catch. Your good qualities may not have been enough for your ex but they may be all that matters to someone else. Love yourself. If you don’t think you’re dope how do you expect anyone else to?

2. Have Some Pride (especially if you’re the dumpee)

If your partner left you, see it as just that. They left you. Don’t waste your time or theirs trying to win them back, make them jealous, hurt them the way they hurt you, stalking them or their new boo (I’m 100% guilty of this so I’m going to say this is acceptable for a month tops but, after that MOVE ON!)

b. point 2 is amplified if they left you for another lover. I hate to hear someone threaten their ex with “he/she won’t love you like I did” or “you’ll never find someone like me” Obviously they weren’t that happy with you to begin with and the new person is fulfilling needs you weren’t. Get over yourself!

3. Stay Positive

As much fun as you may have had, as much time and love you may have invested in the relationship, you may have to conclude that that person just wasn’t meant for you. But keep a positive outlook. Focus on the good things you DO have going on in your life and if you don’t look at it as a sign from God and the universe that you need to get a hobby. Plus no one wants to be around a miserable person.

4. Take some time to mourn the loss of the relationship

The reality is if you were in love it’s going to hurt. Think about the things you could have done differently and use it as a learning tool so you’re not bringing baggage when you’re ready to start over.

5. Party!!

This one’s a little controversial and it may not work for everyone but I’ve always heard the best way to get over someone is to find someone else. So go out, date, buy a freakum dress, have fun, sky dive, have a drink but not too many or you’ll find yourself back at point #2, drunk texting and sitting around your computer with your girlfriends talking about “she’s not all that”.

This is by no means a complete list and it won’t work for everyone but it’s a start. Feel free to add any tips or advice to avoid the bad break up ratchetness.
