Dr. Dre Apology

to all the women he's abused in his past.

25 years ago, (1991 to be exact) Dr. Dre was accused of beating up a #HIPHOP journalist,

Dee Barnes

in Po Na Na Souk LA nightclub. He walked up behind her, grabbed her hair and punched her in the face. Then proceed to slide her threw a door and slammed her head against the bathroom wall.

Dr. Dre later bragged about the incident in a #RollingStone Magazine Interview. Dr. Dre felt her show "Pump It UP" on Fox.

Dre felt Barnes embarrassed the group  by interviewing Ice Cube. At that point, Cube and NWA were beefing because he went solo.

Dee Barnes sued NWA for millions and settled for less than $1 million..

With all the success of  Straight Outta Compton, Dee Barnes feels that the movie "white washes" the violent past of Dr Dre. That incident plays a very important role of NWA history and thinks it should have been included.

Dr. Dre former girlfriend, MIchel'le claims to have suffered years of abuse from Dr. Dre from the  late 80's until mid 90's. He often beat her with open and closed fists. He cracked her ribs and she received numerous black eyes. Michel'le never pressed charges against Dre.

They share an adult son together.

Today Dre made a statement with New York Daily Times saying:

“Twenty-five years ago I was a young man drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life. However, none of this is an excuse for what I did. I’ve been married for 19 years and every day I’m working to be a better man for my family, seeking guidance along the way. I’m doing everything I can so I never resemble that man again.“I apologize to the women I’ve hurt. I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives.” ”

Apple also issued a statement:

Dre has apologized for the mistakes he’s made in the past and he’s said that he’s not the same person that he was 25 years ago. We believe his sincerity and after working with him for a year and a half, we have every reason to believe that he has changed.”
